Hand Dyed Cross Stitch Fabric

Fabric Care and Fabric Sizing

Fabric Care:

Washing/Ironing: All of my fabrics go through a 2-3 hour washing process to prevent any dye from bleeding onto your stitch project. Very dark colors should be okay to wash after your stitch it finished but if you would like to be sure, you can test soak your fabric piece in small bucket of water for an hour or so before you start your stitch project. Your fabric piece can be machine washed on the normal setting and ironed after it’s dry.

Fabric Sizing:

Please keep in mind that dyed cross stitch fabric shrinks a tiny bit so please don't measure your border inches from the sides of the fabric when starting your chart. When stitching on dyed fabric it's always best to start your chart from the center when ever possible. The first photo shown is a dyed 14 count aida fat quarter placed over an undyed 14 ct fabric piece for comparison. A 14 count aida fabric piece for example is more like an unwashed piece of 16 ct aida, second photo.

Fabric Size and Chart Size:

The following is a basic guideline for choosing the right fabric size with a minimum 3 inch fabric border around your finished stitch. If your chart for example is 72 x 150, it will fit on a fat eighth fabric piece just fine on 14 ct. The following is the max chart size guideline for each fabric count.

14 ct Aida Chart Size:
Fat Eighth (11" x 18"): 72 x 165
Fat Quarter (18" x 22"): 165 x 210
1/2 Yard (22" x 36"): 210 x 420

16 ct Aida Chart Size:
Fat Eighth: 80 x 190
Fat Quarter: 190 x 240
1/2 Yard: 240 x 480

18 ct Aida Chart Size:

28 ct Lugana and Linen Chart Size:

Fat Quarter (18" x 27"): 165 x 295
